The Center for the Humanities is pleased to announce the 2012 recipient of Washington University's International Humanities Medal: documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. The medal is given to honor a person whose humanistic endeavors in scholarship, journalism, literature, or the arts have made a difference in the world. The award ceremony, sponsored by the Center for the Humanities and the Washington University Libraries, will take place at Washington University's 560 Music Center at 560 Trinity Ave. in University City. At the ceremony, Burns will show clips from and discuss three upcoming documentaries: Dustbowl, The Central Park Five, and The Roosevelts.
This event is free and open to the public, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors will open at 4:00 PM. This is a location change from the previously announced venue. A courtesy shuttle service will run from the Brookings Hall stairs to the 560 Music Building between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Parking is also available at the site.
